I'm Conflicted Part 2

So, I mentioned yesterday that I'm of two minds.  (I think I like too many things - and - uh don't worry - Worker Bee is all too aware of this)

I love the sort of beachy look my living room is starting to take on.

But then I see things like this and I'm all in love again.
And, BTW, does anybody sell Greengate of Denmark in the good ol' USA?  please?
So the color palette is similar to the beachy look I'm loving too.  But I see flowers.  Lots of flowers!
Greens, blues, whites, and rosey reds.
Can someone please teach me how to crochet?  I love these little edges and I have no clue how to do them.
Florals really have my heart too - just like the beach does.  Note the aqua settee.  Purrrrrrr. (oh that's right - I should say buzzzzzzz, but sometimes purr is the perfect onomatopoeia)
And vintage barkcloth florals?  Why they make my heart go pitter patter!
Green wall and vintage plates - more floral happiness, but it's probably the green wall that really gets me excited.

And then I'm drawn to the colors of this vintage pottery.

And this?  Why it's just a pretty little picture!

Now....your turn to weigh in.
Can my little cottage be both beachy and flowery?
And I have to take into consideration what Worker Bee will be comfortable with.
Would the flowers be too much?

Will Sweet Bee Cottage start to have multiple personalities?  Will that be okay

And here's a little something to remember
the beachy look I'm dreaming about.

Buzzingly,

Here's My Dilemma......

As some of you might know, I've started selling vintage treasures on etsy.

I have had fun finding great items at estate sales, thrift shops, and yard sales.

But.........

I have fallen in love with a couple of items I bought with the intention to sell.

What to do?  What to do?

I'll let you look and give me your opinion.
Do I have turquoise in my house?  Of course not!
Do I like turquoise?  You bet!
Do I LOVE flowers?  You bet!

But they don't go in my room or my kitchen or my bathroom or my living room!

Well, Baby Bee is not nearly into vintage as much as her mom is, but we hope to redo her room sometime soon and turquoise is the color.  So maybe I could hang onto them for Baby Bee.

But then......
I'll want them back.
I don't think I can let her keep them.
Nope!
They will have to stay with me!
(Bad mom, bad mom.)

Here's dilemma item #2.......
Four vintage yellow trays with jadeite green stripes and a bouquet of anemones and asparagus ferns.
Honestly, it's the stripes that are calling my heart.  I've seen plenty of trays with florals, but the stripes......the stripes.......the stripes......

Ahhhhhhhhh.  My heart is going pitter patter........
and Worker Bee keeps saying, "I was afraid this was going to happen."

What am I going to do?

What would you do?

Well, that follower odometer flipped over 500 so I'm getting ready for a big follower appreciation giveaway!  Hope you'll come back soon to check it out.

I Never Promised You a Rose Garden

But Worker Bee!  You promised me an herb garden and a veggie garden!  Why not a few roses too?

Ahhhh........thank you Worker Bee!  I love our gardens!

We have a couple of gardens we've (okay - I'VE named them and everyone else just humors me) named at Sweet Bee Cottage.
(Oh you must know by know that I name many things in my life - my car, my house, my daughter.....)

In front of our picket fence is Our Cottage Garden.  It's filled with roses, perennials, a few herbs, and a very few annuals.

Smells heavenly out there!

Don't you just love Pincushion Flower?  It's one of my favorites!

We also have on the east side of our front yard, Our Kitchen Garden.

Yes, you read that right - Our Kitchen Garden is in the front yard.  It's the only spot on our property that gets enough hours of sunshine.  We have a very shaded little cottage.

We grow veggies, herbs, and a few cutting flowers in those beds.
We have three raised beds.  Ignore the spilled compost.  We'll get that cleaned up!
Our raised beds are made out of those Lincoln Log looking posts that you can get at Home Depot for about $2 each.  Since Our Kitchen Garden is in the front yard, I wanted it to look a little bit classy so we painted the "logs" with black paint.  (Our side doors and window frames are all black.)  I love how they have turned out and held up.  This is the second year we've had them.
Snapdragons that survived over the winter.
My sage bloomed!  I've never had sage bloom before!  It's it the most gorgeous flower?

Spanish lavender!  Always makes me think of little purple butterflies  floating above this herb.

Look!  Tomato blossoms!
And my pansies are still doing well!  I do have a horrible tendency of killing off my potted plants, so I'm glad to see these still around.
(A good deal of that thanks should go out to Worker Bee - he takes good care of all of us.)

Thanks for buzzin' around here at Sweet Bee Cottage!
It's always a pleasure to see you stopped by for a visit.

Vintage + Bouquets = Year Round Cheer

What is it about the colors they used in the 1940s?  They always seem so doggone cheery!

Well this sweet little bouquet is from 1942.  She was sitting in a little antique store for about $10.  How could I resist her?  (Yes, I know I tend to personify objects in my home - I can't help it - I get so attached.)

She's now living in our library.  (It sounds grand but it's really just our old dining room that was TOO small for comfort.)  Doesn't she add a bit of cheer with all those serious books?

Thought she might enjoy a little outing for Vintage Thingie Thursday hosted by the wonderful Colorado Lady.  I hope you have a chance to see what others are sharing.

Oh and look what got missed during the GREAT CHRISTMAS CLEAN UP.  Why, yes, it is a sweet little vintage Christmas ornament just sitting all by itself on the bookshelves in the "library".  It's one of two I was able to get from my grandparents after they passed on.  And I thought I was all done with Christmas.  Do you find you always miss putting away a thing or two after Christmas?

As always I enjoyed our little visit.  I'm getting ready to make a latte, would you care for one?  Well, maybe next time.
