A Warm and Snuggly Rednesday

 Well c'mon over and grab a quilt.  

Yes, they're there for you.....

 And if it's warm out, just grab one to throw on the grass for an impromptu picnic.

(And I must confess only the log cabin is homemade.  #1 from JCPenney's, #2 from Home Goods, #3 MIL made for Baby Bee when she really was a baby, #4 from JCPenney's.)

Quilt Adoration and Auntie Appreciation

My husband's auntie is just the sweetest soul!  Just completely out of the blue she sent our little family a gorgeous quilt.  For no reason!  Maybe just because she loves us!  

(Or maybe she just wants to soften up  my husband so he takes it easy on her in their Fantasy Football League.)

This is one of my favorite squares....

And these are really cute too.....

Ooooooh!  Look at the border.  Two kinds of polka dots and even checks at this corner....

I can't just stop there.  

Auntie Quilting Bee also made a beautiful quilt when Baby Bee was born.

I'm getting all teary-eyed thinking about our little itsty-bitsy Baby Bee laying and snuggling with this quilt.

Auntie Quilting Bee made this vintage inspired quilt too.  

It hangs in our entry.  What a warm welcome it gives to our little bee family.

I feel very blessed to have her in my life!

And guess what?  

My mother in law (Auntie Quilting Bee's sister) used to quilt too.  

One of these days I'll share the great quilts she made for me.

I hope you have a marvelous weekend.  It's my birthday Friday so I'm looking forward to a fun, productive, relaxing, catch up on all the chores weekend.  Oh dear, I'm not sure even my birthday fairy could pull all that off!

A Buzzin' Bee Weekend

Baby Bee is turning into a great little furniture painter.  We enjoyed our time together and she so wanted to make me proud of her work.  (Which she did.) We talked about other pieces of furniture we could paint.  She wanted to start on those today but I have to get some grading done, so they will have to wait.  

I know I said I was painting my china cabinet last weekend, but it was just too stinkin' hot!  This weekend was perfect painting weather - high 80s/low 90s.  I have a great workspace in my backyard.  There is so much shade that if a spot gets sunny, I can just move to another shady spot to keep on working.

So, we got it painted.  It has taken all weekend because the inside needed 4 - yes, I said 4 - coats of white paint.  I started with the quart I bought at Lowes.  It was a Valspar primer/paint combination.  Not impressed with it.  I pulled out my go-to Behr white with primer from Home Depot and it did a fantastic job!  (Just like it has on several other projects.)  And no, Home Depot is not paying me to say that.  But when I find similar products and one seems to work A LOT better than the other then I have to say something.

But I'm not quite done with it yet.  I'm taking a page from Miss Mustard Seed and I'm going to distress it and antique it.  I have to wait for the paint to really cure before I can take on this step.  

So our dining room will continue to look like a dish store threw up all over it.

Dining room table.....there will be no dining here for awhile.

Top of long bookcase.....there will be no bookcasing here.

The good thing is I've gone through everything and figured out what I really want to keep and what I am willing to part with.  I've decided to try selling some of my things on ebay.  Some of it will be Southern Living at Home products from when I used to sell for them and some will be vintage pieces.
