Winter Schminter!

Winter has hit in the Central Valley!
And by winter I mean FOG!
We don't have a white winter, we have a gray winter!

For the last two days it has been super foggy and hasn't lifted all day.  This makes it very chilly and we can't burn a fire because when it's foggy the particulates get in the air and that's bad for those of us with asthma or other lung diseases.  Too bad because today would have been the perfect day for a cozy fire, but I get it because Baby Bee and I both have asthma and we want that air that we breathe clean!

So anyway, since we don't have snow here I brought a bit of snow inside.....
This little guy is from the Mitford Series from Hallmark that came out a few years ago.  I just loved those books and he was irresistible.
I love the quiet beauty on this platter.  The Bybee Pottery is in Louisville and I picked this up a few summers ago and brought it back to California with me.
My  apothecary jars are filled with:
1.  plastic glittered silver and white ornaments that remind me of snowballs,
2.  fake snow and fake snowflakes that are standing up (or perhaps now leaning over)
3.  paper snowflakes that I cut out with my cricut and some winter themed scrapbook paper.

For those of you with eagle eyes that is a Mary Engelbreit mitten Christmas ornament hanging from one of the apothecary jars!  Bonus points for you!
A little snowman love on top of our piano.
And my favorite!
This is a snowman candle and I used my SLAH pedestal, some fake snow, and a little silver Christmas garland to make his look sweet!

Well I'll be sharing all my winter decor over at
Cindy's
for Show and Tell Friday!

Thank you so much for buzzin' by!

How is your winter?
White?
Gray?
Or sunny?

Oh and I'm having a giveaway!

A Little Winter Love

Just a little winter lovin' before all that heart racing fun of Valentine's Day.  These decorations don't come out until all of the Christmas is put away.  (or at least "staged" for putting away)

Apothecary jar pretties....

one filled with snowflakes cut out with the mighty Cricut...

one filled with snowball-like ornaments....

("borrowed" the mitten ornament from Baby Bee's Christmas tree)
and one filled with faux snow and faux snowflakes.

Coffee table with new (to me) rustic bowl and pine cones.

Pretty snowflake platter picked up at the Bybee Pottery store in Louisville this summer.

Another little platter on display in the living room.

Some snowman love!

Last shot of these great little ornaments.  Picked them up at Walmart last Christmas on clearance.  They just remind me of snowballs.  This basket is a centerpiece on our kitchen table.  If you want to see the banner we have hanging above the table you can see it here.

Hope this post finds you enjoying a warm white chocolate latte or a steaming cup of herbal tea. Let's all try to stay warm and cozy.

Thanks for popping in for a visit.  Your visits are always welcome (and so are your comments)!

Baby It's Cold Outside

Now I know our cold can't compare to the bone chilling cold of the snow and wind chill that much of the rest of the country feels, but it's still cold here due to the fog that comes and moves in like that Mucinex commercial.  It permeates everything!  Even our newspaper is soaked in the morning from what Worker Bee and I call "fog drip."

So, even though we don't get snow, I thought it would be fun to make a little banner to decorate our kitchen nook.  I do a little "cold" decorating for the month of January before the red and pink of Valentine's Day.  I'll show you more of my "brrrr" decor on another post.  I'm hoping for a little sunshine soon....

First, get out your beloved Cricut....

I used two cartridges - Mini Monograms and Doodletype.  (Did I mention that ebay is a fantastic place to buy Cricut cartridges?  I bought three cartridges for about what one costs in a retail store!)

After I cut out the letters I applied glue to them and then...

glitterfied them.

Love the glitter trays I bought at Michaels from the MS line.  Here they are all ready to assemble...

I used some silver tinsel glitter I bought for like $0.25 at Joann's last Christmas to string them on.

Can you see how foggy and gray it is outside?  That's how it's been for days!  I miss you sun!
At least it's warm and cozy inside and there's always a latte waiting to be made...

I'm linking up for the first time at Cottage Instincts for Make It Monday! So if you're coming by from that sweet blog- WELCOME!

Thanks for stopping by for a visit!  Love to see you!
