I Haven't Been a Busy Bee At All

I have no excuse for not posting or visiting much lately.  None, not one little excuse.

Well, I HAVE been reading a lot.  And I mean a LOT!  Right now I'm in the middle of The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern.  What a fantastical tale!

But what I really wanted to share with you are some of the vintage treasures I have picked up that will ultimately end up in my etsy shop and a few that will NOT be sold on etsy or ebay or anywhere!

The Fabulous Phyllis and I went to a plethora of estate sales on Saturday morning.  (They had a set of turquoise pyrex bowls - but I missed grabbing them!)

But I did find some other interesting little items.....

1.  a huge chicken tole tray - in good condition, but it needs a good bath - I hope someone like this one - hope to get these listed this week

 2.  a Bremner Wafers tin - in excellent condition - no rust or scratches - love that color - also will be listed
 3.  an aqua egg beater - love it, but I've got my grandma's egg beater so this one will be listed (BTW, did you know if you use an egg beater to mix your eggs and milk for scrambled eggs they make nice fluffy ones?)
 4.  the milk glass trifecta - a cute little vase, a compote, and a little pudding cup - I'll be keeping the pudding cup for a giveaway, the vase will be sent to a bloggy friend, and I'll list the compote
 5.  a 2 quart vintage aqua Ball mason jar WITH it's zinc lid - I already have one almost exactly like this so I'll be listing this - it is so HUGE
 6.  a sweet little apothecary jar - I think I'll be keeping this - I think it would be charming with some flowers in it

 7.  one of my favorites that I'll also be keeping - a U.S. history book from 1903 and also a California state edition - have I told you that my degree is in U.S. history?  I'm a sucker for vintage history text books
I think the graffiti on the cover is so neat - who was L.W. and why did they write their initials on the cover?
On the inside back cover there are notes on battles of the Civil War - those notes make this all the more fascinating to me.

 8.  My favorite find - a green glass jug!  It's very heavy so I'm not sure if it's Depression Glass or something else - but I carried this one home on my lap.  And....it was only $12!!!  It's condition is excellent - no chips or cracks!  I love it!!!  If you know anything about it, will you please let me know?
And my last find for today.....

 9.  a vintage tin filled with vintage jello molds - I think I'll keep some of them, but not all of them - I think there must be 20 or more of them
So I hope you can forgive me for being a Lazy Bee instead of a Busy Bee.

I only have about 2 more weeks before school starts and so many projects I haven't finished but I'm sure I'll get more focused once the weather cools down some.

Oh and I have the most amazing recipe to share with you soon.  I've made it twice now but I keep forgetting to take pictures!  It's a wonderful dish for a hot day!  I'll try not to be a tease too long with it.

Thanks so much for buzzing by and visiting!  Your visits mean so much to me and I'm always tickled pink when you leave a comment!

P.S.  I also must confess - I have also been busy pinning things on Pinterest that I haven't done.  Yep, I'm a lazy bee - - - a big dreamer - - - but basically a lazy bee.  bzzzzz (see i can't even capitalize any more i'm so lazy)

  1. Everything you bought is great! You did well. I had that exact same egg beater in my hand at the Goodwill a few weeks ago! I made myself put it back because I knew that I was just buying it because of it's cuteness...not because I'd use it! Haaa!

  2. I am L.W. ~ : ) Great finds. Sometimes we all get wrapped up in other things.. I have a confession, this time of year I slack off of the blogs a bit because I am addicted to the reality tv show big brother. As soon as I sit down to read, I get distracted by the big brother computer feeds.

    Have a great day

  4. Ooh -- I've been looking at that book (Night Circus) at the bookstore, hoping I can get it at the library. I love fantastical, adventurous tales and I love Circus (actually I love reading about circus and circus people, loved that PBS series "Circus", loved that book by Jennings, I think, back in the 80's called "Circus", but I don't actually like going to or watching an actual circus -- go figure!). I may have to just go on and buy it.

  5. So many fun things you found. I love the aqua egg beater. I have a lot of those little molds and they are cute for different things. I am thinking about making pin cushions out of a few of them. Enjoy reading..
    blessings to you.

I thought "The Night Circus" was great, and like you, couldn't put it down. It was very different & so interesting.
