A Trip to the Magic Kingdom

Last Saturday, my Baby Bee was invited to perform at Disneyland.  Well, not her by herself, but her dancing group was invited.

Now, even though we live in California, Baby Bee has NEVER been to Disneyland, which she all too frequently reminded me about.  Then I would gently remind her that she has been in 16 states, been to Chicago, flown in airplanes MANY times, and visited places others can only dream about.  Plus she saw fireflies when she was 3 and I had to wait until I was 37!  So, she's been sort of okay with it, but she has still dreamed of visiting the Magic Kingdom.
Walt welcomed us all in.....

Disneyland has changed quite a bit since the last time we were there.  Worker Bee and I went shortly after we were married about 21 years ago.

Baby Bee's group was whisked off behind the scenes at Disneyland where they dressed in their costumes and then were escorted to the stage entrance.  I keep asking her what it was like, but she's not spilling a lot.
One of my favorite dances they do to the song "Do You Wanna' Dance?"

Baby Bee and her BFF waiting for their next cue.

The Disney folks did such a wonderful job announcing the girls and making this feel very professional.  It kind of gave me chills and made me a bit teary eyed.

After all that dancing, the rides and attractions were calling our names!

It's a Small World.....

(only picture inside that turned out halfway decent)

BFF and Baby Bee on the teacups.  I rode that one too and loved it.  I'd forgotten how fast that one goes.
Can I just say I love how all the teacups are decorated?  They are just so cute!  I wouldn't mind having them in my own teacup collection.

Baby Bee wanted to go on the Storybook Cruise.  (Not quite sure what the name of this attraction was.)  It was filled with miniature villages and plants - from Jasmine's castle to Cinderella's castle.  It was very sweet and Baby Bee enjoyed it enormously.  (And no, that's not Baby Bee that you see riding on the front of the boat.)
For a time, we hung out with some other dancers.  Here they are waiting (for an hour) for the Indiana Jones ride.

Of course, we went on all the iconic rides......Pirates of the Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.....but there are still some things we didn't get to do because Disneyland on a summer Saturday is CROWDED!  Honestly, if you are planning to head to Disneyland, don't go in the summer!

But, we still had fun!  And the best part?  Seeing Disneyland for the first time through Baby Bee's eyes.  That was the best by far.

Do you have a favorite at Disneyland?

Thank you so much for buzzing in!  We're still recovering from our trip.  (We're a wee bit exhausted.)

So nice to see you!

  1. WTG busy baby bee. What an honor!

We just went to Disney last month for the first time.. and my girls are 20 and 12. We all enjoyed space moutain. I loved the haunted mansion ( since I love Halloween).. I had all kinds of crazy decorating ideas going through my head.
We liked the park.. but I think we chose a bad time to visit ~ it was HOT AND CROWDED.

    Have a great weekend.

  2. Haven't been to DL, but to DW here in FL quite a few times. My faves? Small World & the Country Bear Jamboree - pretty silly, I know! The best time was taking our oldest grandson for his first visit. On the way out, he very seriously said, "I wouldn't mind coming back here again"!
Definitely better in December than July, that's for sure!
Congrats to Baby Bee - quite an honor!

I've never been to DisneyLand, only DisneyWorld. I adored Disney's Philharmagic show. Got in line to see that several times. (Do they have that at DisneyLand?)

  9. I think everyone should go at least one time to a Disney park. Living in Florida we have been to DW and Epcot. I think my favorite would be the Hall of Presidents. It intrigues me every time I see it. Glad you enjoyed your visit to the world of Disney.

  10. What great fun! I love Disney Land. Since we also live in CA we have been there many times. I never tire of it. My daughters boyfriend has never been to Disneyland since he was born and raised in Chicago and he is 31 so I think a trip is needed to see this big boys face the minute he walks through the gate :)
I bet baby-bee was just the happiest baby-bee in the world!
Gald you all had such a sweet trip!
Now you need a vacation from your vacation...LOL

  12. Here on the east coast we go to Disney World. Have been a few times. The last time was when my mother and I took my two nieces. We all loved the teacups and "It's a Small, Small World." Glad Baby Bee has had her chance.

  14. I know you all had a grand time....I can tell from the photos. Growing up in south Florida, we always went to WDWorld. My daddy was one of the engineers when they were building the place. Your series of shots really put a smile on my face. Genie
