My Favorite Idea from the Bridal Shower

This is it.  My last post on the bridal shower.  Really.

(Uh oh - did you see my crossed fingers? I might be done with the shower, but I've still got to tell you about the wedding!)

So one of my favorite things we did at the shower was to come up with date ideas for K and B.

I started off by writing instructions (it's that teacher in me - so hard to let go of that) and putting them in a white frame.  (I always have plenty of white frames because I borrow them from my gallery wall in the hallway - I don't think I've ever shown you that - I will have to do that someday)

Baby Bee and her buddy used a punch to make all the tags out of wood printed scrapbook paper.
Everything was set up on a sofa table I have stored in the garage and it gave the guests something to do when they first arrived.
I had been trying to come up with a way to string them together and on my way out the door on Friday before the party I remember my teaching buddy had a plethora of binder rings so I got a couple from her and painted them the same navy blue I painted so many things for this shower.

I knew some people might not be able to come up with an idea right away so I printed off a bunch of ideas I found on the internet.  (Plus I figured it wouldn't hurt if it gave them a date night idea too!)
Here is some of what they came up with.....

Don't let Hallmark see that one!

One of the reasons I really like this adaptation of this idea is that it doesn't take up a lot of room and my friend, K, can just toss it in her purse for instant inspiration.

Okay.....I haven't had too many guesses as to what my big news is....so I'm just going to tell you....on a different post! (Can you hear my evil laugh? Bah ha ha ha ha!)

Now....my question for you is....
what would you do on a date night???

Buzzingly,

P.S.  I forgot to show the original inspiration.....

  1. What a great idea. I love the ring that holds them also. The shower looked so fun and I am sure the bride was very pleased. I still think you are getting chickens. :)
    Blessings.

  3. HEY GIRL! I've been meaning to pop in and see what you've been up to. Just don't get a chance to visit blogs too much anymore. Always something that needs to be done at my Mom's. I love this idea for a shower! Date night? What's a date night?! We'll go out to dinner and then come home and start a fire in the fire pit and talk for hours. In the summer we'll go to a nearby nature center and hike the trails and take silly pictures of each other and then have a picnic there. We're so BORING!
I can't wait to hear your news. I can tell you're excited, and I'm excited for you!

  5. I have been catching up on your posts and I love that you are always so creative with your projects. Whether it's table settings and tree decorating for the fair or a wonderful wedding shower, your thoughtful planning and implementation shines through. The date night idea is really clever and helpful and I say anything that doesn't involve electronic gadgets (IPhones, IPods, IPads...you get the idea) and requires the couple to converse face to face is a good date.
I can't begin to guess what your big news could be so I'll have to wait to hear when you wake up and tell us all!
