Yes, It's Me Again. The Blogger Obsessed With World Market

Really, dear friends.  I have to shake this obsession.  It's beginning to be embarrassing.

(Ehhhh.....I'm not really too embarrassed since I'm clearly going to tell you about more finds from World Market I spied with my buddy Siri.)

Whenever I go there these days I just have to look in every nook and corner.
Sometimes twice.
Sometimes thrice.
I wonder if I'm on any security cameras just wandering and wandering around the store.
Bet I am!

On Monday I had to head to the big city and of course, I had to make sure there was time for a visit to my new fav - World Market.
Found these delights on a little end cap.  Aren't they pretty?
(Did I mention we are making cake pops for Baby Bee's birthday bash? Sadly, pink and blue and girly are not what she has in mind for her party.)

Now look at this adorable little cookie tin!
Let them eat cookies!  What would Marie Antoinette think?
Why she would think, let them eat cake instead!  Too cute!
And I have to tell you I am in LURVE with this Vintage Cakes book.  I don't care what kind of recipes are in it - the cover got me.  Wasn't that Jerry Maguire where they said, "You had me at hello?" Well this one had me......at......Vintage!
It might have had me at the blue background.  It might have had me at the pink cake too.
Oh and did you notice the darling cookbook holder?  What?  You missed it?  Why it's the crossed spoon and fork!

Can you BEElieve it?  I didn't buy any of these......yet.

But, you might BEElieve I picked up this...
I'm all aBUZZ!

Wanna' come over and have some honey with me?

A Vintage Buzz

We finally had a sunny day AND I had the time to take some pictures of some items I've been wanting to list on etsy.

Wanna' see?

A cute little cottage needlepoint...
a darling boxed set of soapy Santas....
a charming platter made by Johnson Brothers...
this sweet plate and gravy/sauce boat from the late 19th century (I've actually owned these for a few years and had no idea that they were that old)....
a fun coffee can that I'm ready to say good-bye to....
a charming small platter with what looks like wild roses on it (don't you just love the scalloped edge?)
a fantastic Maxey chicken platter that is HUGE.....
a charming Wolverine Sunny Suzy toy iron.....
and an oh so sweet child's book rack!
Honestly this is just a small dent in my stash of vintage items I've picked up lately!

Here's to more sunny days and lots of time to research, photograph, and list my vintage finds!

Well, you know what I'm buzzing about these days.
What are you buzzing about?

Miss Baby Bee's Latest Birthday Party Ideas

Well my little Miss Baby Bee is turning 12 this year.

(Informal poll here:  Do you think I should quit calling an almost 12 year old Baby Bee?)

Can you believe it?  When I first started blogging she just started third grade and now she's in sixth grade and almost in middle school.

Well, right after last year's Nancy Drew party, Baby Bee said she wanted to have a tea party.  Well, we have entered the Land of I Don't Know What I Want, so that idea died (although I did collect a few teacups for this party, but no worries, I'll use them for something else) and my girl is a beach girl which brings me to this year's theme.
(Weren't we supposed to be done with theme parties? And there I go again, rambling all over the place.)

We are having a Beachy Slumber Party!

Today I'm sharing the invitations with you because they are soooo fun!
Do you believe in serendipity?  (Is serendipity really something you can believe in?) As the whole Sweet Bee family drove to the big city to head to Michaels we came up with this theme and as we walked in to Michaels there were all kinds of beachy toys on display and there were the perfect beach balls with turquoise AND lime green!

Serendipity, right?

(Oh yes, I do believe Worker Bee might have sat in the car listening to some sports stuff.  Just keeping it real here.)

I wrote all the details on beach balls!
The girls will hopefully remember to bring them with them to the party for some backyard fun.
I included some salt water taffy with the beach ball. (and of course, I had to sample a few - got these at Target and they were pretty good)
I popped all of these in some lime green bags and made some fun little tags.
Aren't those adirondack chairs adorable?
I'm thinking I'll have to come up with some sort of decoration for the party using those.

I'm looking forward to our simple (please let me keep it simple, I know how I am) birthday party!
I'll keep you posted on the details
and
if you have any ideas for a beachy birthday slumber party
I'd love to hear them!

Thanks for buzzing by!

I Found the Mother Lode (and Mother Can She Carry a Load)!

Do you have fun coming up with your titles for your blog posts?

I just love playing with words and sometimes you have to grin and bear it with me.

So what mother lode did I find?

Well Fabulous Phyllis (my friend that had a charming shop in our town, but was forced to close due to the economy) and I went out to an estate sale this weekend (more on that later) and we buzzed into the consignment shop where she is currently selling her upcycled furniture and other delightful creations.

And there.......there in HER booth.....was something I have desired for a long, long, long, time but never thought I would find.  And it is so cute!!!  I have to confess, I was giggling with delight.  Really.  Giggling a lot.  You might have even called me giddy.  I would certainly have called me giddy.  (For heaven's sake, I'm still giggling about it as I write this post.)

Well, my dears, just FEAST your eyes on this!

Vintage inspired fabric!

Crocheted trim!

Red and white gingham!

Red and white polka dots!

Aqua wheels!

Can't you just picture me wheeling that about at a flea market? Or how about at a farmer's market?
Did I mention that someone just gave her the cart and then she sewed the liner?
I am SOOOOO glad no one spotted it before me!

And there just might be a field trip planned to go to the Rose Bowl Flea Market this spring!  Bessie will be sure to come along.  Yes, I think her name is Bessie.

Well Bessie and I hope you have a fabulous week.  I know I will because every time I see her, I'm going to have that same cat-who-swallowed-the-canary grin on my face.  And.....
I might even giggle.

Thanks for buzzing in!

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner and Giveaway #3

The Giveaway Palooza continues here at Sweet Bee Cottage!

We just wrapped up the Mary Engelbreit giveaway and now I'm starting my third giveaway of 2013!

One of my creative outlets these days has been cooking and I am just loving all the fun and funky things I've been seeing at World Market these days, so I found some cute items there I thought you might enjoy.  And it wouldn't be a cooking giveaway without some recipes now would it?  So I picked up a fun little BH&G magazine filled with One Pan recipes.  Just what a buzzy family needs!

Included in this giveaway are:

•a sweet little turquoise bowl with great cottage style

•a cute little red cutting board (you know I'm just lovin' that red and aqua combo these days)
•a copy of One-Pan recipes from those folks over at Better Homes and Gardens
•and the most adorable little dishtowel this side of the Mississippi (do you see that cute little aqua ruffle on the bottom? and the chicken?)
Well here are the rules for this fun giveaway:

1.  Leave a comment telling me what you enjoy to cook.

2.  Be sure to let me know if you are a follower (of my blog, not in life - LOL)  for a second chance (you can leave a comment for that).

3.  For a third chance, post this giveaway on your blog, facebook, etc. and come back to leave me a comment.

4.  Giveaway open to US and Canada only due to shipping costs.  Sorry.

5.  Giveaway ends on Saturday, March 2 at midnight PST.

Thanks so much for buzzing along with me in the kitchen!  Tonight we are having Silk-Handkerchief Pasta with White Bolognese.  It smells so delicious - wish you were here enjoying it with us.

Bon appetit!
