There's a Buzz in the Air.....

This is the buzzing season for me.  I have time to really sit and think about subtle changes to make around Sweet Bee Cottage.  I can look at magazines and blogs for inspiration and then actually do something about it.

Here's just one change I did today.  Just moved some furniture from one room to another.  Thought some additional seating in the living room might be nice.

These "new" chairs came from my dining room/sunroom.
That Fabulous Phyllis sewed the seat cushions for me.  I found a matelasse bedspread from JCPenney's and used some blue fabric I found at Home Fabrics and she sewed up a storm.  These match my reading chair in the sunroom.

We installed a skylight in here a few years ago.  This room really needed light and WAS so depressing on a bright summer day.  What a difference!  Plus I love to sit in the living room on a rainy day and watch the rain fall on the skylight.  It's fun to watch the stars through it too.

what do you think?  Now we can comfortably seat six adults in here.  I'm still not 100% sure about it - I'll have to see how the traffic flows.  I'm thinking about moving a couple of other pieces around in here to help the flow of traffic.

Well now thanks for buzzing in today.  It's a wee bit cooler here today but 103 degrees tomorrow. YIKES!  I better stock up on the lemonade and salad greens.  By this time next week though we're supposed to be back down to the mid 90s.  Trust me - that's a pleasant summer temperature here.

Hope you're finding a way to stay cool today.

  1. I love moving things around, and "shopping" at home. Tweaking, and such.

  2. Looks great! I love the color of your walls and the wicker chairs.

  3. I like the casual warmth wicker brings to a room. Love the ceiling to floor bookcases, too.

  4. I see little chairs in your first picture. I love little chairs. I have about 7 or 8 myself. Lovely home you have.

  5. Oh, I love your change! Your home is so cozy and welcoming! Love that sunshine streaming in!
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia ;)

  6. I like the chairs! It looks cozy and welcoming and very comfy with those great cushions. And of course, cottagey, which I adore! Very nice.

  7. Love your new look! The bedspread for cushions idea was genius.:)

  8. Your room looks lovely. I don't think I could survive in that heat. If it gets to 80 around here we nearly die. No one has air cond. in their homes so we just close the windows and pull the drapes closed and wait for evening. BTW,we can watch the snow fall on our skylights. :0

  9. Good idea! It looks very cozy. The lighter colors on the seat cushions are really nice. I love your globe collection on the bookshelf!

  10. I love it! I wish I could arrange mine this way. Because I've always thought this type furniture arrangement was absolutely the most perfect.

  11. Your room looks great! I like shopping my own home, too. Saves money!!!! Ever since finding your blog I always think about you whenever I see anything about a BEE!

  15. It looks nice. I need a skylight in my living room. It would make such a difference. It's hot here too.
    Have a wonderful week.

  16. What a wonderful globe collection! Your seating area is wonderfully lit now with your skylight. My entire house needs one! Have a lovely week! Elizabeth

  17. Janelle, I love your living room no matter what you do! I think those shelves are so pretty with the red backing them, and the blue chairs are an invitation to sit a while. You sure do accomplish alot when you start buzzin' around!

  18. Such a lovely room! I really like the arrangement. **swooning over those vintage globes!***

  19. I would like to exchange links with your site
    Is this possible?

  20. Hello Anonymous,

  21. It’s really beneficial to have a skylight. It paves way for natural light which greatly affects not just our health, but creates or sets the mood of the room. A bright room is always inviting and nice to stay in. Take time to enjoy your skylight!
