Decisions, Decisions, Decisions

More preparing for my little tea party on Saturday.

Trying to decide which dishes, flatware, etc. to use.  Thought you might like to chime in with your opinion.

First up are teapots:

Which one do you like?  Actually I'll probably use two of them.  I only have one tea cozy though.  Hmmmm....I don't think that will be too much of a problem though.

Now, on to the glasses for water or lemonade.....

I have to confess, I think the depression glass is my favorite, but it doesn't have much capacity.  (Can you guess who just taught their third graders metric and customary units of measurement? Yep, that would be me!)  Which one would you enjoy?

Okay, now for flatware....

Some are a little more casual than others.  I love those red and white ones, but I'll probably go with the silver.  I might even use my new incredible bargain silver plate.  The ones I mentioned here.  (I took a picture of them, but it was too blurry to show you and I was just too lazy to go and reshoot them.)

Let's look at plates next.......

I have always loved layering this depression glass on my wedding china.
See any combinations you think might be the bee's knees?

And I can't forget the all important teacup.....

Well....what do you think?  What do you think would look good together?

I didn't even talk about linens or a centerpiece.

Now remember, we're also having a book exchange....

Should we have a more literary looking table?

Or should we celebrate spring?

The weather is supposed to be rainy (again) on Saturday, so maybe not too springy.

Oh I am so excited for Saturday!
I sure wish you could come!
Wouldn't that be a delight?

Thank you so much for stopping in to visit.
I'm always so delighted to see your bright and shining face!

  2. Okay, first, I wish I lived closer to you so I could come. Being a grade 3 teacher myself, I'm in the middle of teaching the American Revolution, but I will stay away from the Boston Tea Party, because then your party may turn into dumping tea into the bathtub or something crazy... lol! Second, here are my ideas and seeing that it's going to be rainy go for a warm springy rain feel....
I would use the top teapot and the Nantucket teapot (which I LOVE!) It's still March and these are a bit heavier, which still gives that cozy feel. Okay, I'm moving on to make an organized list for ya:
Glasses: 2 and 3 (every other)
    Silverware:1 or 3
Plates: Layer up the depression glass and the white and make book quotes to place between them, What fun it would be to eat and read!
    Teacup:3
Put some teacups with little flowers in them for your friends to take home and remember the tea party. Maybe a Beatrix Potter rabbit on top of some vintage books for more Spring touches.
I think this is an awesome idea and I may have to borrow it!

  3. Everything is lovely, but I think a combination of the white and that gorgeous blue rimmed china! Could you tell me the name and manufacturer of that china? I would love to start searching for pieces of that! Blessings, Becky G. in GA

  7. your tea party book exchange sounds wonderful, completely up my alley. love your wedding china, nantucket basket, with the green depression glass. maybe set the table with a green and white theme? white tulips, green chrysanthemums, hydrangeas, milk glass, white tealight candles, and green gingham linens. although, you're other patterns are darling too. you can't go wrong, whatever you do.

  9. I LOVE all of it!!! I like using mismatched pieces on a tea table. Don't worry about not having a second tea cozy, just tuck a folded tea towel over the second pot... it will help to keep the heat in. And if you "mother the pot" before you make the tea, the whole pot will stay warmer longer. I can't wait to see your whole table! :-)

  11. I have that blue and white china, a gift from my sweet MIL! Everything you have is darling. If I were you, I'd mix patterns, and use one sweet tea pot as a vase for daisies.
