Icy Pink Deliciousness

I just love Susan Branch!  Raise your hand if you agree?

Okay, I see all those hands.  (And if you're not sure who Susan Branch is, head on over here to meet her.)

Susan has some wonderful recipes in her books.  This particular one is from The Summer Book.

One of our summer favorites is a cocktail called "Skip and Go Naked."  The skip because it's so tasty and you want to skip around and the go naked because if you're not careful and have too many of these, you might start running round naked.

The ingredient list is simple:

pink lemonade frozen lemonade
vodka
beer
ice

Now I know some of you might be saying beer?  I don't like beer!  Well, I can't stand the stuff, but mixed in this drink?  It's absolutely scrumptious.  Trust me (and trust Susan too).
Plus you will need a blender.
1.  Fill the blender half way with ice.
2.  Add 2/3 cup frozen lemonade concentrate.
3.  Add 1/4 cup of vodka.
4.  Add 2/3 cup of cold beer.
5.  Blend together and pour into a glass - pretty glass preferred of course.
Icy pink deliciousness!
One for me and one for you.
Let's go enjoy these on the patio.  We could listen to some nice music and pray the June bugs don't crash into us.  (Thankfully, June bugs are almost done around these parts.)

And, at last, I have a fun post for Pink Saturday!
Come join the party over at Beverly's.

Such a treat to see you too!
Thank you so much for dropping in for a visit.

It's Raining.....Pink?

Rainy season is about to dry up in my part of the world.  Time to put my rain gear away for another season.  (Quit laughing all of you in harsher in climates.  We have weather in California - it's just mostly pleasant weather.)

So what's a cheery person to do when faced with gray and rainy days?

Why, get a hot pink raincoat!
Wouldn't you smile if you saw this walking down the street on a dreary day?
I even have a pink polka dot rain hat!
Plus when it's really chilly (hey, I told you to quit laughing) I have a pretty in pink plaid scarf.

Finally, the piece d'resistance....
a polka dot lining!

Well here's to a pleasant weekend wherever you are - rain or not!
(or snow??? Boy I hope not!)

Pink, Warm, Toasty, and Cozy

Seems to be a theme with me this week - - - if you're looking for something warm and cozy you've come to the right spot.  I finally saw some sunshine today - first time in days!

I have the perfect pajamas for Pink Saturday!  They are perfectly pink and they reflect one thing I adore - COFFEE!!!

Keeping it real here - these have not been ironed, but are fresh out of the drawer!

These are my favorite pajamas of ALL TIME!  They turned me into a pajama girl from a nightgown lady.  You know I just couldn't resist them when I saw them at Target.  I think I've had them for about 5-6 years now.

Some of the cups I wish I had in real life.....

Aren't they sweet?

There's enough coffee cups to have about 40 of you over for lattes.
Wouldn't that be fun?  Coffee and pajamas!

Oh dear!  Caramel has snuck into them.  Give 'em back!  I had them first!

Here's hoping you find something pink, warm, toasty, or cozy to snuggle up with today.....or tonight!

Thanks Bev for having us all over for our weekly dose of pinks!

I forgot to mention my giveaway!

Twins!

No, I'm most definitely NOT pregnant,
but I wanted to share with a pair of twins separated by about 25 years.
This pair of suitcases belong to me and my mom.  I have the pink one and my mom has the blue one.
The one on the right is mine from about 1970 and the one on the left is mom's from 1945.

Now these are not quite identical twins but you might call them fraternal twins.
1970s version....

Not quite disco stars but still 70s.....

1940s version....

Pink and sweet on the inside (just like my mom)!

I always thought my handle was cooler than hers when I was a kid.  Now I prefer mom's leather one.

Hinges are identical - just different patina.

Mom's is slightly larger than mine.

I can remember mom's being up on a tall shelf in a hall closet in our house when I was growing up.  She kept her embroidery in it.

I remember using mine for sleepovers at my cousins' house and stuffing it to bursting.  I remember feeling so sad when my clothes would no longer fit in my suitcase.

I also used it for storing my doll, Kitty's clothes.  My parents watched Gunsmoke and I think that's where my doll's name came from.

I asked Mom what she remembered about her suitcase and she remembers getting it when she was maybe 8 (1948) and it had a little hand tied quilt and matching pajamas.  I have that little quilt somewhere......I'll have to find it now.  I just called Mom to ask her the name of her doll and she couldn't remember.  (Thank goodness I wrote my doll's name in this blog so when I'm 70 and Baby Bee asks me my doll's name I'll be able to tell her!)

So you are lucky - two vintage thingies for the price of one (and I'm NOT referring to my mom and me as the vintage thingies)!

What are you treasuring these days?

Thanks for buzzing in!

How's your weather?  We have gotten HOT!  85 degrees tomorrow!  I'm losing my autumnal feeling and that is NOT a good thing.

I enjoyed seeing you today.  I'll be making a nice breve latte tonight.  Would you care for one?
You can drink it while you go visit all the delightful vintage thingies at Suzanne's at Colorado Lady.

And if you're coming by for
from

I'll be happy to make you some yummy pumpkin waffles and a cinnamon dolce latte!
Doesn't that sound like a yummy breakfast?

A Very Special Pink Table

Happy Pink Saturday!

I've recently shared the tables the More Creative Bee and I did for our County Fair.  Today I'd like to share a special table we created in 2006 for the fair.  We wanted to create a Pink Ribbon Table for Breast Cancer Awareness.  Most of the credit for this one has to go to the More Creative Bee (yep, that's how she got her name - she is WAY more creative than I am).

We wanted to honor some of our friends who had suffered from breast cancer so we created a pink ribbon table.
We used a white tablecloth as the base and then ran pink ribbon along the four edges of the table.  On the ribbon we applied the names of friends and friends of friends who had or have breast cancer.  Strewn about the table were little loops of pink ribbon.
We used some lovely china that belongs to the More Creative Bee's mom.  (She could probably have a blog just dedicated to all of her great sets of dishes.)  The flatware was sterling that also belongs to the More Creative Bee's mom.  The crystal is my mom's.
The centerpiece was a piece of pink Depression glass that we put a candle in and pink rose petals and more pink ribbon loops.

One of my favorite things we did at this table was to have two special friends of ours as two of the guests.  Both of these sweet ladies have survived breast cancer.  It made it that much more special to me that we included and honored them.

Thank you so much for stopping in on this Pink Saturday.

I hope you can stop by Beverly's How Sweet the Sound for more celebrations of all things pink!

The pictures are from 2006 and before I learned a little bit about picture taking from all the blog tips so I apologize for their quality.

What Are You Going to Be for Halloween?

Have you given much thought to what you're going to dress up as for Halloween?

Baby Bee starts thinking about her costume for next year on Nov. 1, but she changes her mind so much we don't commit to anything until the first of October.

Here are some ideas we had this year....
(Remind you of someone's birthday party?)

This is my favorite!

In actuality Baby Bee will be a ghost bride.  Not quite the pink nirvana she might have dreamed up but it sure fits the budget a lot better!

Which is your favorite?

Happy Pink Saturday!

Thanks for bringing yourself on over!  So nice to see you!
