Have You Ever Loved a TV Kitchen?

Besides the Brady Bunch kitchen, right?

Well, I am in 

with the kitchen

Damaris (I feel like I can just call her Damaris) was the winner of last year's Next Food Network Star.  Worker Bee and I enjoy watching that show and we were both fans of hers.  

She is quite quirky (does that remind you of someone?) and has a fun sense of humor and she is a culinary teacher (remind you of someone again?)  I find her quite endearing.

But in all honesty, as much as I like her and her show,

it's the KITCHEN I'm smitten with!

And it's not even the cupboards or counters that get me all excited.

It's the accessories PEOPLE!

I struggled to find images on the internet to show you all the delightful little containers and tools she uses.  And with my World Market Eagle Eye (yes, that is a medical condition and it can only be treated by frequent trips to World Market so you can spy new things to want with your World Market Eagle Eye) I noticed quite a few of the little aqua delights are from there.

 Not sure if the little birdie butter dish is still available, but most of the other items I saw at the store just the other day.

Best way to spot the cuteness for yourself is to watch the show!  I am not usually home when the show airs, but I catch it on demand.

And what have you been making in your kitchen this hot summer?  Well at least it's hot here in Central California!  

My sis-in-law just sent me pictures of the flood at the lake they live on in Minnesota.  Sure wish they could send that rain our way.

My Sweet Little Nook

Oh I am going to show off my favorite (okay, don't I say that every time - yes, they are ALL my favorites) spot in my kitchen.  

Oh you're funny!  It's not the fridge or the stove.

It's this sweet little nook....

I'm showing this off because I finally painted it.  I dare not tell you how long it's been naked wood.  Oh why not!  We're all friends here.  It took me 4 years to finally make it look purty!

I know. It doesn't look that great in that picture.  

Just trust me.  

Have I ever let you down?

The white lacy curtains ought to reassure you, right?

Why look!  They open!  

And of course, I had to paint the inside a different color.  

I'm sneaky that way.

And now those cushions cozy it up just a bit.

And pillows even add to the warmth.  

I'm a bit of a pillow addict.

Now this is my particular spot.  

In fact, I'm sitting right there while I write this post.

Oh but it's not just another pretty face!  It's useful too!  (and, no, not just for sitting)

Oh my yes, it's filled with vintage tablecloths! And.......there's room for more!

I neglected to take a picture of the other bench's contents, but that's Baby Bee's spot so one cubby is filled with her Girl Gourmet supplies and tools and the other cubby is filled with arts and crafts supplies.

And - voila!  Here is the whole little nook.

My kitchen is L shaped.  Strange, I know.  Gotta' love 1951 architecture!  My uncle built the little bookcase (on the left side) for me when we first moved in here.  I found the kitchen island that has the espresso maker on it (on the right).  This same sweet uncle built the benches/banquette for me too.  I found the plans for these benches in an old magazine I got from Home Depot.  He custom fit them for me for my little corner.  

Caught the magic blue light tonight outside the windows!  

I also switched my old kitchen chairs for my former dining room chairs.  Oh yeah, you caught that didn't you.  My former dining room chairs.  Does that mean something new is going on in the dining room?  Oh you'll just have to come back another time to find out about that story.  Aren't I frightful tease?

I must confess, it's spaghetti from a jar. Shhh.....don't tell!  (But I sure do love the frozen turkey meatballs from Trader Joe's with sauce from Costco.  Perfect for a busy night!)

Say Hello to My Little Cupboard

Welcome to my favorite kitchen cupboard!

Say that like Al Pacino would......

Nice to see you here.  I'm looking forward to seeing some of your favs.

Technically, this is really our pantry, but it works so much better for us as a appliance/pan cupboard!

One weekend last January (2010 to be specific) I reorganized my pantry and cupboards to better fit my mixer, platters, griddle, waffle maker, etc., etc.  I think you get the picture.  

Frankly, it was probably the best and most successful project I've ever completed.  

Why do you ask?

Well, after 15 months - it is STILL organized!  

Um - just keeping it real here - but usually my stuff does not STAY organized.  And Worker Bee and Baby Bee help put stuff away in here too.  It just goes to show that if you have a space for everything (and you don't add to it) it can all stay organized.

Please enjoy more organized nirvana......

Had to show you my little apple green basket we keep the chalk in for the chalkboard.  LURVE that color!

Looks like a lot of clutter, but really it is super organized!

The dream machine and her twin (the Kitchen Aid food processor) share these tight quarters.

Sauce pans and frying pans.....

Stock pots galore......I sure love to make soups and stews.

Sweet little Mary Engelbreit hooks for aprons, and my cherry plastic bag holder.

More pans hanging from hooks on the side of the pantry wall.  Can you see the coffee maker peeking out?  Doesn't get much use with my espresso maker going all the time. 

A bucket of skewers for grilling!

A fun enamel tub filled with grocery bags for recycling.

Can you see the "box" that these are resting in?  These came with the house/pantry when we moved in and they are just perfect for Worker Bee's grilling equipment.

Here's another one of those boxes and it's just perfect for my cookie sheets!

Appliances, appliances, appliances.......plus pretty packaging supplies for making a homemade treat that much more special.

And MORE appliances......plus all my baking cups.

Platters, tins, and jelly roll pans - oh my!

Well, that's it!  

It is one jam-packed little space, but it is super functional! 

I love it!

Wanna' know what I'm making for dinner tonight?  We're having turkey burgers with marinara sauce and mozzarella, a Caesar salad, and some garlic bread.  Then it's off to a Parent Teacher Club meeting at Baby Bee's school.  I think we'll have enough for you if you want to join us!
