How do your collections start? Are they ever accidental? Do you fall in love with just one thing and then it somehow grows into a collection?
Well that happens with me all the time. It started with a wooden picnic basket with a red Skotch plaid lid. That one picnic basket turned into a small collection of metal picnic tins.
They are so handy to have around. I use three of them as an end table in the "library."
I also use them for storage for Baby Bee's arts and crafts supplies.
Thanks for stopping by today. It's always so fun to link up with Suzanne at Colorado Lady for Vintage Thingie Thursday. Please be sure to stop by and visit all the others taking part today.
Hello Sweet Bee! I love the stack of tins. I have a couple and am on the lookout for more if they are cheap! I have so many collections, I have to limit what I take in these days. I have mine filled up with torn out magazine pages. You can only save so many magazines! They look sweet as an end table-great idea! Sherry
ReplyDeleteThose are so sweet! I found one of the coolers that matches you red one and used it for a Christmas gift exchange. They're so cute and, like you said, useful!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Dawn
Nice collection. I found one recently at a thrift store but the inside had a moldy smell so it didn't come home with me. Not meant to be I guess.
ReplyDeleteI love your collection of picnic baskets! I would love to have those to store my "stuff" :)

Donna
You probably already know what I am going to say....."I LOVE YOUR COLLECTION!!" Yes, one thing turns to another, yet another...and before you know it, you have a whole lotta great collections. You have some really wonderful picnic tins and I like how they are used as an end table.

How do we get bit by the collectors bug? I dont know but when it hits, it comes on with a fever. I adore those tins. They are just so sweet. I found some scottie dog tins last week that would match them so well. Have a week filled with love, Cherie

You and Carol from Old Glory Cottage need to compare "notes." She is a vintage picnic basket collector also - - - and has shown her treasures from time to time. In fact, I'll be surprised if you don't HEAR from her today in a comment!!
ReplyDeleteLove your picnic tins. I bought one years ago, but have not found any different ones. They are really hard to come by in our area.

ReplyDeleteI would collect those if I ever saw them. I have one old one that my parents had. I remember it being used for large batches of Chex Mix snacks.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful collection of picnic baskets you have. I would have never thought of using them as an end table. You are very creative and I enjoyed your blog.
ReplyDeleteI do think a collection can start as accidental--it's happened to me! I love your picnic tins and your very creative display/use of them!
ReplyDeleteOh those are so nice! I remember back in the '50's we had a red plaid BBQ bucket that matched your picnic basket! So cool! Gee, I have a milk bottle collection in storage I should get out and take pictures to share. Great post. Mumzie :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I love these!! I have a vintage picnic basket that doubles at an endtable in my sitting room :)

Yes, that is exactly how my collections start. I have several wooden picnic baskets that are around my house, but have yet to find any of the metal ones.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog...really sweet. Your vintage picnic tins are awesome! I'm sure their use is way beyond the picnic blanket....

What a great collection. I love how they look stacked. I used to see them around when I was young, but now not so much (they were vintage even then).

ReplyDeleteI just adore picnic baskets. I have several, but they're the wicker kind. I love them, but I want to find some like yours. How creative to use them they way you are!

Your picnic baskets are adorable. Stacking three up for an end table was a great idea.
ReplyDeleteReally cute and perfect for storing craft items.
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss seeing this post? Good thing I looked back over some old things. Your picnic tins are marvelous! LOVE them!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for visiting my blog. I love your collection of picnic baskets. That is usually how my collections start, too, I see one thing and then I start buying them here and there.
ReplyDeleteI love those baskets! I'm giving my age away but my Mum had one of those when I was a kid and it went to the beach with us all the time. Wish I still had it.
ReplyDeleteI never see any picnic baskets, metal or otherwise on my shopping trips. Thus your eyecandy is much appreciated. Thanks for stopping by my blog. Your collection is fabulous!
