My Sweet Vintage Picnic Tins

How do your collections start?  Are they ever accidental?  Do you fall in love with just one thing and then it somehow grows into a collection?
Well that happens with me all the time.  It started with a wooden picnic basket with a red Skotch plaid lid.  That one picnic basket turned into a small collection of metal picnic tins.

They are so handy to have around.  I use three of them as an end table in the "library."
I also use them for storage for Baby Bee's arts and crafts supplies.

Thanks for stopping by today.  It's always so fun to link up with Suzanne at Colorado Lady for Vintage Thingie Thursday.  Please be sure to stop by and visit all the others taking part today.

  1. Hello Sweet Bee! I love the stack of tins. I have a couple and am on the lookout for more if they are cheap! I have so many collections, I have to limit what I take in these days. I have mine filled up with torn out magazine pages. You can only save so many magazines! They look sweet as an end table-great idea! Sherry

  3. Nice collection. I found one recently at a thrift store but the inside had a moldy smell so it didn't come home with me. Not meant to be I guess.

  8. You and Carol from Old Glory Cottage need to compare "notes." She is a vintage picnic basket collector also - - - and has shown her treasures from time to time. In fact, I'll be surprised if you don't HEAR from her today in a comment!!

  11. I would collect those if I ever saw them. I have one old one that my parents had. I remember it being used for large batches of Chex Mix snacks.

  16. Yes, that is exactly how my collections start. I have several wooden picnic baskets that are around my house, but have yet to find any of the metal ones.
