Just wanted to share my absolutely favorite depression glass pieces.
Dear Worker Bee gave them to me for Christmas about fifteen years ago. I had taken him to look at them but I never dreamed he would buy them for me. The shopkeeper told me that they were used to hold cottage cheese.
I once had fourteen of them, but one fell on hard times. (Oh dear - I think I just made a pun. Please don't groan too loudly.)
As I pulled them out for their picture I thought, I have to throw a little party (only 12 can be invited after all) and serve ice cream sundaes in them. Doesn't that sound sweet? Would you come?
Thanks so much for stopping by and seeing my
Please be sure to stop in and visit everyone else sharing at Suzanne's blog, Colorado Lady! I'm sure you're in for some vintage treats.
C'mon by again soon! I feel a giveaway coming on soon!
Oh yes I would come! But I would love to visit you even without the ice cream!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Lisa
I love your green glassware!! Those do look like perfect hot fudge sundae or milkshake glasses. :-)
ReplyDeleteI like your green glasses.
ReplyDeleteYour mention of cottage cheese reminded me of some dishes I used to have that originally held cottage cheese.
I would love a visit, even without the sundaes...however,ummmm, since you're in the mood to make them, annnnnnnnddd since you have these gorgeous glasses..ummmm,doesn't it seem a shame to let all that go to waste. :).
ReplyDeletep.s. I'll bring the whipped cream and cherries...yummm.
Happy VTT,have a wonderful weekend.
I would love to come, and I can just imagine the ice cream would be a little sweeter served in these great glasses! They are so pretty! Have a great VTT!
ReplyDeleteI am green with envy over those glasses. I drool everytime I see a set of them but the price...yikes, no buying for me. Maybe I can talk Mr. ALC into it ... good idea!
ReplyDeleteCottage Cheese? Really? As in it was the container it was purchased in? I find that strange. Maybe a promotion from the dairy for every certain amount purchased. Whatever, they are certainly a great color, shape, and pattern and might be beautiful parfait glasses as well as sundaes!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Elizabeth. Cottage cheese? Really?
ReplyDeleteI think there is a glass for me too so I would like to come!
ReplyDeleteHere in Finland we could buy spreadable cheese packed in drinking glasses, and mustard too. It was a way to promote the sales as people would keep buying their brand until they had enough glasses. I think this was in the 50's or up to the 60's.
Beautiful glasses! I guess if you can buy jelly in a drinking glass, you can buy cottage cheese in a sundae glass!
ReplyDeleteGreat color of glass. Ice cream sounds much better to me than cottage cheese.

Love these. I love green and these glasses are really nice.
ReplyDeleteRobin
Ice cream sundaes in those beautiful green glasses sounds wonderful...even better than cottage cheese!
ReplyDeleteI'm on my way,,will be there in a short time dear one..I'm so loving that lamp too!
ReplyDeleteI do so love your green depression glass! My goodness, I do like cottage cheese but I cannot imagine eating a serving that size...now, ice cream, that's a different matter.
ReplyDeleteBeth
I love your glasses. I have some small ones in this color, but do not use them as the are really vintage. I would love to join you for anything you wanted to serve out of them.
ReplyDeleteI love depression glass. I'll be right over for a chocolate sundae!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful glasses. I'll be right over for that sundae.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! I just adore your picket fence and arbor -- the lovely ARB won't let me do that in my neighborhood! Your green glasses are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteScribbler
I love cottage cheese.. but Ice cream sundaes??.. I'll be front in line for THAT!!.. LOVE all your beautiful glassware today! Such a bright and cheery color, perfect for Spring!! ~tina
ReplyDeleteThose are really beautiful glasses! I had no idea that they once held cottage cheese. I would love to come over for a sundae. Could you possibly concoct a pistachio sundae? It's my favorite ice cream. And I'll bring the maraschino cherries!
ReplyDeleteHappy VTT!
Carol
Cottage cheese in pretty glasses ... I never knew about that. I love the green ... nice and bright.
ReplyDeleteSure, I'd love ice-cream in your glasses!
Cottage cheese? Yuck! Ice cream? Oh yeah!! Love the color too!!
ReplyDeleteThose are wonderful glasses and would be just perfect for serving ice cream sundaes!! I can just imagine the woman who had to eat all of that cottage cheese to get that lovely collection of glasses. Wouldn't that be nice if companies started to do that again??
ReplyDeleteLove,
Susan and Bentley

ReplyDeleteHi Sweet Bee!
ReplyDeleteYou sweetly left a comment on my Rednesday post and I thought I'd come visit and say hello. I tried to do so yesterday but for some reason I couldn't open up the comment box - this happened to another blog I visit too so something odd is afoot. :)
I'm in So. Cal. and love the Central CA Coast area, we try to visit Cambria every year.
