Vintage Christmas Music

I don't know if I mentioned before that I play the piano.  Someday I'll have to do a Vintage Thingie Thursday on my 1896 upright grand piano, but tonight I'm sharing some of my favorite Christmas music.
Christmas Cameos is a book my mother-in-law, the Quilting Bee, gave to me when they moved from California to Texas.  I love to play in this book because it has such beautiful variations on those familiar Christmas Carols.  It originally cost $1.50.  It was published in 1959 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  I love that since my MIL and FIL were both born and raised in Appleton, WI.
The second piano book is my very first Christmas piano book.
I love that whole vintage look it has.
And look!  There's my handwriting from when I was 7 and in second grade.  That's a little bit vintage.

The second book was copyrighted in 1945, but my mom wasn't even 7 years old then and I DEFINITELY wasn't born then, so I'm not sure how old this book really is.  I know it cost 85 cents.

Thanks so much for buzzin' this buzzy time of the year.
Hope you can fly on over to Colorado Lady for

  1. Sweet Bee,
I love the vintage sheet music! I have the ones I played as a child myself and actually came across a recital program from the 70's!
I have my mother's old, old books she played from when I was young and I love them. I think I will bring them out and try to play a little. I probably have forgotten how!
Thanks for bringing back memories for me!
I would really like to play like Jim Brickman! LOL We went to his Christmas concert last week and we always love it.
    Hugs,
    Donna

  2. I love seeing this vintage Christmas music. We found some very old music at a thrift store once. It was so old it was brittle. But we wrapped it in a green ribbon and it sits on our piano.

  10. Thanks so much for sharing these cherished vintage memories. I love old sheet music. I can't read a word of it, but love it anyway and make things out of it.

  12. I have to get out and get some vintage music for my son. Of course, it's so much better when it means something to you like yours does.

School parties were today...we get out tomorrow. Woo hoo! How about you?

  13. There just isn't anything like Christmas music! I love to sit in church and listen to all the beautiful music. Lately I've also been enjoying my 4-year old granddaughter singing all the songs she's learned at PreK.

  16. It's so nice that you still have your old music books. Hubby's aunt plays piano for church and gives lessons. All her old books are in the attic. She says she wants them but...it's been 10 years since we bought the place...I don't think she wants them all that bad.
Have wonderful Christmas, hope we dry out by then!

  17. I have no musical talent, what so ever, so I so appreciate that others do! I really like graphics, tho', and the graphics that were used in the 40s and 50s are just so cool, the covers are outstanding. Blessings of the season!
