What is it about the colors they used in the 1940s? They always seem so doggone cheery!
Well this sweet little bouquet is from 1942. She was sitting in a little antique store for about $10. How could I resist her? (Yes, I know I tend to personify objects in my home - I can't help it - I get so attached.)
She's now living in our library. (It sounds grand but it's really just our old dining room that was TOO small for comfort.) Doesn't she add a bit of cheer with all those serious books?
Thought she might enjoy a little outing for Vintage Thingie Thursday hosted by the wonderful Colorado Lady. I hope you have a chance to see what others are sharing.
Oh and look what got missed during the GREAT CHRISTMAS CLEAN UP. Why, yes, it is a sweet little vintage Christmas ornament just sitting all by itself on the bookshelves in the "library". It's one of two I was able to get from my grandparents after they passed on. And I thought I was all done with Christmas. Do you find you always miss putting away a thing or two after Christmas?
As always I enjoyed our little visit. I'm getting ready to make a latte, would you care for one? Well, maybe next time.
This post reminds me that I too have a little vintage floral bouquet painting that I've been meaning to share!
ReplyDeleteThat painting is great for today's VTT. I have one that belonged to my mother, but a different flower arrangement.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about the colors. They can brighten any room, and that is such a sweet little picture. (I found a Christmas decoration on a shelf today too!) laurie
ReplyDeleteYou're right - the colors are fab!
ReplyDeleteI just love the colors in those flowers! They are very bright and cheery indeed! I too have a Christmas ornament or two that hasn't made it in it's proper box. lol
ReplyDeleteVintage Thingies Thursday!

I love the picture ... so colorful. I found Christmas items today too! I am glad you admitted it first :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,

The colors in your bouquet are so bright, as if those flowers were painted just yesterday. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love this bright and cheerful picture! I too am still finding little Christmas things to put away.

That is just beautiful. Does it not just cheer you up to see it? A nice bit of sunshine on a cold winter day.
ReplyDeleteHow pretty it is..it looks as though it belongs and has always been there.
ReplyDeleteHappy VTT, have a great weekend.
That painting of the flowers is just beautiful! The colors are so deep and pretty! I have a couple of stragglers too from Christmas, I put them away to keep them safe, hopefully by next December I will remember where! LOL
ReplyDeleteHow pretty!! Yes, I sometimes do find an ornament or two left behind. When that happens, I just put it inside the dining room buffet with my Christmas dishes. I always know to check there each year when I get the hoiliday decor out.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love the flower picture. Is she painted or embroidered? She sure brightens your little library. Have a great day!

What a beautiful and cheerful picture. Reminds me of spring - sigh. I wonder if the brighter colors came about because of the depression ending or maybe because cleaner natural gas heating was taking over. Those pesky little Christmas doodads show up for awhile here, too. Rosie
ReplyDeleteHmm I was just thinking about a nice hot drink!
ReplyDeleteLove your little picture & how nice to have a room devoted to books I am so envious!
i love the 40s colours too..that sweet little picture is so bright & cheerful. btw i've still got a few chrissy decorations hanging about lol!
ReplyDeleteThe colors from that era are more vibrant. Love your vintage print!
ReplyDeleteOh I always find a few stragglers after I've put all the decorations away!
I'll have to see if I can find some photos of your diningroom/library. That's something I've been wanting to do and I'll probably do it when our daughter goes off to college.
Manuela
Glad I'm not the only one who keeps finding Christmas stuff they forgot to put away!
ReplyDeleteThat picture is gorgeous, and the colors are still so vibrant. And you can tell what each flower is too. I see morning glory, and larkspur, and petunias and roses....I can't wait for Spring!
Happy VTT!
Carol
Your little bouquet looks happy to be in your home.
ReplyDeleteOh, I am in agreement with the cheery colors. Your new picture really captures those great colors :)

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! My 21 year old daughter still plays with the magnetic paper dolls. Every time she comes home from college she puts new clothes on them. :-)
ReplyDeleteOooh, how PRETTY...awesome colors! Thanks for coming by and hope you come again:)
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
I LOVE the framed flowers! So beautiful.

Wonderful 40s painting! You're so lucky to have this-my 40s things are all fabric!
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful contribution to VTT. I love the colors and the original frame. Looks great hanging from your bookcase in the library.
